Its my second day in a row getting some much needed down time from full time mommy life to bring you another book review. Thank you to my guy who is hanging out with our littles so I can take a break!<br />

Synopsis:<br />
<i>Ember O'Dare has a secret. She's a natural born witch. From an early age, she's had a knack for crafting potions and felt and indescribable pull to the ancient bridge in her town of Hallowell. Little does Ember know, the bridge is a gateway to the otherworld, a realm crawling with fiendish beasts. And Jack, the ever-vigilant watchman, is committed to keeping meddlesome mortals away. His task is simple- or it would be, if he weren't falling for the very witch he's trying to keep out.</i><br />
<i>Undeterred by Jack's warnings, Ember crosses into the forbidden plane and sets off a chase through a world beyond her wildest imaginings. Now Jack must do everything in his power to rescue his true love before both the earthly and unearthly worlds descend into chaos.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Okay so, I waited for months for this book to be released because by the description alone I knew this was right up my alley. Witches, Halloween and a modern twist on the classic <u style="font-style: italic;">The Legend of Sleepy Hollow</u> , I mean come on, what's not to love. I purchased it right before its release date so that it would arrive at my house upon its release. I read the first ten chapters and my life went bananas... literally crazy. Long story short, my dog got cancer, he fought for a couple months until he coul not fight any more and we put him to rest, then I took a part time job doing what I love to do, embroidery, I was in school and then we FINALLY got our transfer out of the crap town we were living in so I had to finish school, work and move with a one year old. Needless to say, reading was and has been on the back burner. In the last few weeks I have been listening to audiobooks like crazy and I saw that this book was available so I purchased it! But I digress...<br />
<br />
Now Back to the book... Anyway because we had so much happening, I could not find the want to pick this book up again and every time I did I would get sidetracked or honestly a bit bored. There is a lull halfway through that is full of action and if you are like me you want the storyline to keep moving rather than have fluffer chapters that, in my opinion for this story, did not need to be as drawn out as they were and for me they detracted from the main premise. However I know that they do have their place and I think that most everyone will really enjoy these chapters. I have to say that the best elements of this book were the world building and the character development. It starts in this Sleepy Hollow-esque town called Hallowell that when you read the descriptions you feel like its Halloween in every scene. Then we visit the otherworld that reminded me of a steampunk underworld and by underworld I mean like one from Disney's <i>Hercules</i>. Then we are aboard the <i>The Phanntom Airbus </i>with a crew of monsters and a heated love triangle. By the end we are back in Hallowell which again is absolutely magical.<br />
<br />
Then there are the characters. I will only talk about Ember and Jack as I want to limit spoilers as much as possible. Ember is a force! She is what you imagine a young, bright and beautiful witch to be. Imagined her as a Christina Ricci meets Mila Kunis kind of girl. Dark and beautiful but a bit rough around the edges (even if that's not how she is described) :) Then there is Jack. Be still my heart, how I loved Jack. He was dashing, and kind but he was not afraid to fight. He was masculine but not so much so that he was a muscle head (for lack of a better word) I Pictured him as Robert Sheehan with bright eyes, hark hair and Olive skin, of course even if he wasn't described that way.<br />
<br />
I just have to say that while I was reading this, I was enjoying it but only at a 3.5/5 stars until the very end. The Epilogue alone made it a 5 star read for me. I wont give anything away, but if you are a history buff like I am then when you read it you will understand why I loved it so much. In fact I listened to it a couple more times after i finished because it was such a great way of tying in history to such a great story.<br />
<br />
Like I said I gave this book 5 stars, and I think that it is a story that is appealing to many, especially Halloween/ Sleepy Hollow buffs like myself!<br />
<br />
I hope you all enjoyed this review and I will plan on doing another soon!<br />
<br />

I havent had much time to blog this year. I think my last post was in February when i finished <u style="font-style: italic;">Open Book </u>By Jessica Simpson! Well I am here today to talk about a book club read that i am happy i tried. Today we will be talking about <u style="font-style: italic;">The Mister </u>By E.L James. If the authors name sounds familiar, thats because she is the same author that wrote the very popular <u style="font-style: italic;">Fifty Shades of Grey</u> series. I ADORED fifty shades and Christian Grey is one of my favorite "Project" characters because he went from a broken shell of a sadist to a warm, trusting and loving man and husband to Ana. But enough about that, lets talk about her newest work <u style="font-style: italic;">The Mister </u>.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
SYNOPSIS:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>London 2019. Life has been easy forMaxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, hes never had to work and hes rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his familys noble title, wealth and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. Its a role hes not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.</i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman whos recently arrived in England, owning little more than a dangerous and troublesome past. Reticent, beautiful and musically gifted, shes an alluring mystery, and Maxims longing for her deepens into a passion that hes never experienced and dare not name. Just who us Alessia Demachi? and can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? and what will she do when she learns that hes been hiding secrets of his own?</i></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<i>From the heart of London through wild Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, <u>The Mister</u> is a rollercoaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.</i></blockquote>
<br />
Okay so First off let me just say I was VERY nervous to read this. I loves the Fifty Shades series so much that I just couldn't see how she would write something else as good. I was right in that sense. It was a good book, don't get me wrong but it still didn't hold a candle to Fifty Shades. I tell everyone this when I suggest this book or the others written by James, Her writing is not great, plain and simple HOWEVER she is good at writing Men. Her male characters could be considered physically perfect and perfect overall minus their GIANT flaws I.E Christian Grey is a rich Sadist and Maxim is a rich Man Whore! But the way she writes them makes you somewhat nervous and slightly uncomfortable to then being absolutely smitten with them, so I guess she is a great character writer.<br />
<br />
Now for the flaw of this story. I have recommended it to friends who like these kinds of books but I always say "Its a European version of Fifty Shades" because it kind of is. The damaged boy falls for the shy virginal girl bringing her sexuality out and then falling in love and there is always some kind of danger. In this case Alessia is running from some human traffickers. So i would say if you are looking for a totally different love story from her previous works this is not for you, but if you love these kinds of romance novels then this is a page turner for sure.<br />
<br />
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars based on the fact that it is so similar but I was not as fond of the characters Maxim and Alessia as I was of Christian and Ana.<br />
<br />
Well friends that wraps up tonights post. Stay tuned for what I hope will be another post next week!<br />

<br />
Hey friends! Kelsey Here. Wow it has been quite a long time since Ashley or I have posted on here. Life has been busy for both of us. I wont lie to you either, I have been listening to so many audiobooks that I could write up at least 50 reviews but mom life has kept me insanely busy. Add on the loss of some amazing individuals in my life, a move and school i have not had the want to blog. My mind has been in ten thousand different places. However i have been inspired to post for you so my goal is to bring this blog back to life. It was such a fun endeavor for us and i know Ashley wants to post more too. I hope that we can and I will do my absolute best to stay inspired and ppost about what i read. That being said here is my first review of 2020.<br />
<br />
<u style="font-style: italic;">Open Book</u> by Jessica Simpson<br />
Many of you have no idea, but from the age of 14 until I was 21 Jessica Simpson was my idol.I own every season of her and her now ex-husband Nick Lachey's reality show <i>Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.</i> I had the whole lip collection of her Dessert line and I even had a pair of jeans from her clothing line! To this day at 31 I still find her so amazing and when i heard she was releasing a book I was over the moon. I decided to listen to the audiobook because she narrates it and for me it added to the entire experience.<br />
<br />
Her story starts off with a heavy dose of her southern charm. She talks about living life with her family and frequently moving due to her father job as a minister. She comes from very humble beginnings with a family who did not have alot of money and were God fearing Christians. As the story progresses Jessica faces abuse from a family friend, trying out for and not making the infamous Mickey Mouse Club, losing her idol in her cousin Sarah's tragic death, finding fame and love on tour with 98 degrees, her reality show and "blonde moments" with then husband Nick Lachey, her failing first marriage, finding the love of her life in her now husband Eric Johnson and having her three babies. But the main theme is really all about her struggles with Alcohol and how all of the events that happened in her life led up to the moment she decided to get sober.<br />
<br />
The first part of her book is quite sad. Between the abuse, and losing her cousin we see a side of Jessica that America did not see on her reality show and that her song lyrics never conveyed. She even begins to cry in her narration. As her story progresses I began to remember why i adored her so much as a teenager. She is so relatable and humble and she is not afraid to make fun of herself which is charming. But what I found the most amazing about this story is how her faith never wavered. Through the years of abuse, and heartbreak and loss she still remained steadfast in her love and blind faith in God. As someone who never had that connection with faith I was blown away listening to her thoughts on God and her prayers.<br />
<br />
When Jessica meets Nick and begins to fall in love, I felt like I was 14 all over again. I am a HUGE self professed 98 degrees fan with Nick being my favorite so when I saw that he and Jessica were going to have a reality show on MTV I was elated! At the time i thought they were perfect and I had no idea why in 2006 they wanted a divorce. Now as a married woman, I cannot fathom how they stayed together as long as they did. They were under constant scrutiny and always followed by cameras. I will admit that when she was describing feeling ready to leave Nick and how she had changed my teenage heart broke all over again. As silly as that sounds.<br />
<br />
Cut to when she meets her now husband Eric and becomes a mom and my heart began to burst! Again as a wife and mama hearing about how her pregnancies were and what she craved was so much fun. She is the first person to tell you how hard trying to get pregnant, being pregnant and giving birth is. She is so candid and real, its refreshing!<br />
<br />
<u style="font-style: italic;">Open Book</u> was such a great way to kick off my 2020. Her story made me laugh out loud and ugly cry. She makes you feel like she is telling you her story in casual conversation. She found a way to speak her truth about the good, the bad and the ugly and she did it eloquently. I think this book is good for many different types of readers. If you love her music and her its a way to get to know her. If you are struggling with the same issues of Abuse, grief and or alcoholism, she lets you know, You're not alone. If you are just a fan of a celebrity memoir its an easy read. I rated it 5 stars but i am a bit biased. I highly recommend it!<br />
<br />
Well friends there you go! I just finished my first review of 2020 and I hope to post on my current read soon!elsewherebookreviewshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118445633158329537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-730741160353639030.post-83559203366670559102019-01-17T15:08:00.001-08:002019-01-17T15:15:10.546-08:00Top 3 Books from 2018Hey Everyone! Can you believe that we are halfway through January already! Ashley and I wanted to do a post about the best books we read last year. I read so many great books so I had to narrow it down to only three. I will be posting a Synopsis directly from the book and then a mini review! The Photo I am using is one I took showcasing the books! Hope you enjoy this post and Ashley will be posting hers soon~<br>
<br>
<u>The Wicked Deep.</u> By Shea Ernshaw<br>
<i>"Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow. Two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town. </i><br>
<i>Now for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three troubled girls so that they may seek revenge, luring boys into Sparrow's harbor and pulling them under.</i><br>
<i>Like many locals, Seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters' return, a boy named Carter arrives, unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.</i><br>
<i>Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty rain-soaked streets. The townspeople will turn against one another. Penny and Bo will suspect the other of hiding secret. And death will come swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.</i><br>
<i>But only Penny sees what the others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo or save herself."</i><br>
This was by far my favorite book of 2018! It was such a great combination of Hocus Pocus meets Practical Magic. This is the debut novel for Ernshaw and she nailed it! First off, her characters were outstanding, especially the Swan Sisters. They were dynamic and very relatable. The setting of Sparrow, Oregon was near and dear to my heart as I LOVE Oregon and also live on the west coast. The final twist was one that I didn't see coming which only made me love this book more. I rated this book 5 stars on Goodreads and recommend to anyone who loves a spooky and witchy read.<br>
<br>
<u>Odd and True.</u> By Cat Winters<br>
<i>"Meet Odette and Trudchen Grey. Of has always claimed that their mother slayed monsters and that she and her sister are destined for the same adventures. Tru, who has struggled to walk ever since a childhood illness, suspects that her fantastic stories are merely comforting lies.</i><br>
<i>But even skeptical Tru believes there is a dark force approaching.</i><br>
<i>In 1909, after vanishing two years earlier, Od reappears in Tru's life with a suitcase full of weapons and a promise to rescue Tru from the monsters about to attack. </i><br>
<i>Od seems haunted, searching for something she cant talk about. Tru goes along with her sister in the hopes of finding their long missing mother, but neither girl will find exactly what she is looking for.</i><br>
Cat Winters did an amazing job with this story. I consider myself one of her biggest fans and this book did not disappoint! It reminded me of the hit show<i> Supernatural</i> except with women in 1909 and before. The backstory of the sisters and their mother is heartbreaking and so real. Winters made me weep while reading their story. The strong female characters is also something to celebrate. Both Od and Tru are a force to be reckoned with, armed with wit and strength. I gave this book a 5 star rating!<br>
<br>
<u>Hocus Pocus and the All New Sequel.</u> By A.W Jantha<br>
<i>Shortly after moving from California to Salem, Massachusetts, Max Dennison finds himself in hot water when he accidentally releases a coven of witches, The Sanderson Sisters, from the afterlife. Max, with his sister and his new friends (human or otherwise) must find a way to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan and remaining on earth to torment Salem for eternity.</i><br>
<i>Twenty-five years later, Max and Allison's seventeen-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face to face with the Sanderson Sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don't quite go as planned, its a race against time as poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches' latest vile scheme.</i><br>
Okay, so Hocus Pocus is my all time favorite Disney movie, so when I found out somebody was retelling the original story and adding a second part I was ecstatic to say the least. I absolutely loved this book. The retelling was so nostalgic and while I frequently watch the movie I still couldn't help but feel like a kid again. The sequel was great as well! I really enjoyed the new characters and their interactions with the original cast. The only thing I would change is some of the corny dialogue in part two. There were some one liners that I couldn't help but cringe at. Overall it was so fun and the ending only made me love it more. I also gave this one a 5 star rating!<br>

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday. Also 2018 was a great reading year for me but the time spent between my baby, my family, and just life didn't allow for any reviewing. I'm hoping that in 2019 I can start fresh and begin reviewing books I just purchased the Always fully booked planner from @littleinklingdesigns and plan tonuse that for my reading and reviewing as my personal planner does not allow that much space for notes! I am currently reading Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and she is inspiring my mind and heart so much. I think Ashley will be coming back to join me in reviewing as well and who knows maybe we can start uploading some video content and or giveaways!? Are you all still out there, reading this?!? We hope that you are. Until next year I wish you Happy Holidays!elsewherebookreviewshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118445633158329537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-730741160353639030.post-23098223266760391302018-01-29T15:32:00.001-08:002018-01-29T15:32:50.487-08:002018 book expectationsHi readers! It has been quite awhile since you have heard from either Ashley or myself. My life has been crazy hectic and Miss Ash works full time as well as attending school. We apologize for not posting more... <br />
<br />
So 2017 has ended and we are now almost 1 month into 2018. I have set my Goodreads goal at only 10 books and I am already 6 books into that goal! I have only read extremely short books minus the one I just finished. If you have not read <i><b>Furthermore</b></i> by Tahereh Mafi, then you need to pick it up. It is a whimsical tale full of magic, color and self acceptance. I am currently a subscriber to Audible (thanks to my amazing husband) and I have listened to 2 books already, including <i><b>Six of Crows</b></i> by Leigh Bardugo which I absolutely hated, and <i><b>The Necromancer</b></i>, book 4 in the <i><b>Alchemist Series</b></i> by Michael Scott which I adored! My current hard copy read is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I am only about 10 pages in and have heard nothing but raving about the series so I am anxious to see if it will live up to its reputation. I hope to post a<b> bit</b> more as my free time is limited but when the blogging bug bites I have to post. I hope you will stay with us.elsewherebookreviewshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118445633158329537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-730741160353639030.post-77060812072393308402017-08-12T19:18:00.000-07:002017-08-12T19:18:42.923-07:00Book Subscription Boxes<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Well, hello!!! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">So today I wanted to talk about book subscription boxes, like the Fairyloot box. I have been getting this box for six months now and I love it. It is a little expensive because it is based in the UK and I'm in the US so with shipping it's about $50 USD. There are definitely less expensive options that are just as good! I thought I'd share some pictures of the six boxes I've received so far, I hope you like them!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: medium;">Disclaimer: This post is in no way sponsored by Fairyloot I am not getting anything for posting this, I just wanted to share something I love. </span><br />

Today I wanted to do a fun tag and while I was scanning the internet for something that got me inspired to write I came across @fandomsontherun and their TMI book tag! so lets get into it shall we?!?<br />
<br />
1. Which Character has the best style?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRBmZGotEymal23egsGfMZtKzp1ERnECMGvR8HkRAhIuRfSjgeFuhXi5iHk41FNsMoRtWGrXaC2Nke16vlqYKqoFIeUnhUX_IHAw4lFG2mDwgFxhrH2j12p_0AaXUmUAh6FCm-aFSrbpB6/s1600/2ca7de52be37fdedd30e9b37fdf69b85--jemima-west-isabelle-lightwood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="466" data-original-width="358" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRBmZGotEymal23egsGfMZtKzp1ERnECMGvR8HkRAhIuRfSjgeFuhXi5iHk41FNsMoRtWGrXaC2Nke16vlqYKqoFIeUnhUX_IHAw4lFG2mDwgFxhrH2j12p_0AaXUmUAh6FCm-aFSrbpB6/s320/2ca7de52be37fdedd30e9b37fdf69b85--jemima-west-isabelle-lightwood.jpg" width="245" /></a></div>
<div>
For this I chose, Isabelle Lightwood fro <u>The Mortal Instruments</u> by Cassandra Clare. While this picture is from the movie, this just gives you an idea of how amazing Izzy dresses!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2. Book boyfriend/girlfriend/fictional crush?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKPY5bs4CGLCd60XuvPTBJcRZjSAnUZdbn2YGDTjfEmpmBNZQ8yow718q4Zz-sRzC0n_kC7e-3fitR0VoFxjKlEMcCMRZnbYf_eXM0V_wH4Z7fFkQhZZ2gfaBXNDDuqDfmJyj2nolWrca9/s1600/C.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="313" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKPY5bs4CGLCd60XuvPTBJcRZjSAnUZdbn2YGDTjfEmpmBNZQ8yow718q4Zz-sRzC0n_kC7e-3fitR0VoFxjKlEMcCMRZnbYf_eXM0V_wH4Z7fFkQhZZ2gfaBXNDDuqDfmJyj2nolWrca9/s320/C.jpg" width="210" /></a></div>
<div>
Obviously if you have been following me on Instagram or even on here you know that my love for Simon Lewis runs deep. He is by far the most wonderful book crush of my life. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3. Ever loved a character but then began to hate them? Hmmmm lets see...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNVSYzDAaJPEKuZtAGyKjVRYx4NRcUpUjygo2vBCYTPk4K4pXXYTPJqmLWToNRrh9iKV9eF-m18ixfQdNZmUvuUuG8jB7bTHXIcwnFdwl9ts-SwaYmjmDZGpSLkbzs5vRuyfdlL0e1kDIB/s1600/P.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="250" data-original-width="164" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNVSYzDAaJPEKuZtAGyKjVRYx4NRcUpUjygo2vBCYTPk4K4pXXYTPJqmLWToNRrh9iKV9eF-m18ixfQdNZmUvuUuG8jB7bTHXIcwnFdwl9ts-SwaYmjmDZGpSLkbzs5vRuyfdlL0e1kDIB/s1600/P.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
I really loved Sam from <u>The Perks of Being a Wallflower</u> when I first started reading this book. After 100 pages I began to fall out of love with the book, but Sam as a character as well. I found her to be quirky for the sake of being quirky. That's really all she had going for her and then it just became obnoxious.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
4. Bigges/Longest book on your shelf? <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyFLcnp1AvR4R3erlHBXDZcr3SM2N-5fSwEO9RKps76BDednfLvn0BrakJrqB1SCRiRSjYT7LKWBjf99ehcve6Mklv38YTbuIQBlaj51_b-ww39wWG-7aIgXXGz2GGJCeEgw2S5B_normc/s1600/D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="317" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyFLcnp1AvR4R3erlHBXDZcr3SM2N-5fSwEO9RKps76BDednfLvn0BrakJrqB1SCRiRSjYT7LKWBjf99ehcve6Mklv38YTbuIQBlaj51_b-ww39wWG-7aIgXXGz2GGJCeEgw2S5B_normc/s320/D.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
This beat <u>Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix </u>by a whopping 1 page! This has 578 pages and man were they packed full of amazing!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
5. Heaviest book on your shelf?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkJLfmozuqC-XiDzwcZDLvSmL1YY69xrNJvccnyhiKGtsEPWEzDqCsNCzXnh10iuu44a8VqVBt3_kwedTFQ-59KVgWAvIOh1-IeP0AJwgvgJxUggqvil31FkC9sOqKqRJ3s2lyD_WFN3Om/s1600/images9SU073WK.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="261" data-original-width="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkJLfmozuqC-XiDzwcZDLvSmL1YY69xrNJvccnyhiKGtsEPWEzDqCsNCzXnh10iuu44a8VqVBt3_kwedTFQ-59KVgWAvIOh1-IeP0AJwgvgJxUggqvil31FkC9sOqKqRJ3s2lyD_WFN3Om/s1600/images9SU073WK.jpg" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
While this book is not 578 pages it is large in size and quite heavy!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
6. Do you have any book posters? No... I cant say that I ever have.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
7.Do you have any book themed Jewelry? I do not. Only because I am extremely allergic to nickle and all the cute costume jewelry is made from nickle or cheap material. However I would love something either Alice in Wonderland or Harry Potter!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
8.Book OTP?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwzVEzgmvF4FX-Bb3u1qHOS462PL59or9HX5d8M3KgAEQKpna_UCmTamxYSWvV9JKl-Ref_eUX-71lDdbpPVmMMEcCag9IeK08KwweHOvPhaOb08nzNTim1-vYiHnlplvJNtmu0XNLpZrF/s1600/PicsArt_02-15-03.47.18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1245" data-original-width="1024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwzVEzgmvF4FX-Bb3u1qHOS462PL59or9HX5d8M3KgAEQKpna_UCmTamxYSWvV9JKl-Ref_eUX-71lDdbpPVmMMEcCag9IeK08KwweHOvPhaOb08nzNTim1-vYiHnlplvJNtmu0XNLpZrF/s320/PicsArt_02-15-03.47.18.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
I really hate all of the trendy "book lingo" OTP, Trope, ship.. GAH SO ANNOYING but anyway, I guess my OTP is Abby and Caspian!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
9. Favorite Book Series?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRL2H18oHX7KHzG9lc3rbgm-jAW6vMW1n_WiwvhOA_uFA4kNxpRoESBP4Q0IOy9a5ZH8ncwUDa_G3LSQr3fRcRHCZ8NCy27Kb0hW3xzua056lnLZnf3OCVvVvYeGEDTTUp68voxg9bCDAg/s1600/2c39e5f1d46760ca5b1ec6fd6ccf9fca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="346" data-original-width="387" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRL2H18oHX7KHzG9lc3rbgm-jAW6vMW1n_WiwvhOA_uFA4kNxpRoESBP4Q0IOy9a5ZH8ncwUDa_G3LSQr3fRcRHCZ8NCy27Kb0hW3xzua056lnLZnf3OCVvVvYeGEDTTUp68voxg9bCDAg/s320/2c39e5f1d46760ca5b1ec6fd6ccf9fca.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<u>The Sweep Series</u> By Cate Tiernan! This is an amazing series about teen witches and its utterly addicting!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
10. Favorite Book to Movie Soundtrack?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2IGGMK-CH3SRFGRobEJyQv8kH4ku0IMy61AP2jGb4CaTytN5EmtmKkT2kSs6JkrlmEiPwHQmvlI2hSEb4swH8NG0ejBUF89Ad-wW-H6klcWHPdOn-M70JZ6xcG2qTVD_NKTCJNlqzKukb/s1600/9781423178699_p0_v2_s1200x630.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="578" data-original-width="700" height="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2IGGMK-CH3SRFGRobEJyQv8kH4ku0IMy61AP2jGb4CaTytN5EmtmKkT2kSs6JkrlmEiPwHQmvlI2hSEb4swH8NG0ejBUF89Ad-wW-H6klcWHPdOn-M70JZ6xcG2qTVD_NKTCJNlqzKukb/s320/9781423178699_p0_v2_s1200x630.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
You all know I am Tim Burtons biggest fan, so naturally I decided to go with this! Danny Elfman has said that "The Nightmare Before Christmas was the easiest soundtrack for me to write" and it really shows his creativity. Tim Burton got the idea for NBC from walking past a Macy's and they were taking down their Halloween display and putting up Christmas. The poem he wrote was published into the book it is now, which was then turned into a Stop motion animation film, Directed by Henry Selick and obviously created by Burton. Its by far one of my all time favorite soundtracks on earth!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
11. A book/Story you miss and wish would continue?</div>
<div>
I don't really have one because all of the stories I read have to end at some point and while it can be heartbreaking, its necessary.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
12. Favorite Stand-Alone. This is so hard because I actually prefer stand-alones to series... but I guess if I had to choose...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmQaFoUfzypb3Q4HgV8selyVQ7WHk-pU1TVKexYKzsriyfaZeMxt1GH7gPVTCqhZP10JmB4lWDBQjbpAf4ixnydLadSxNQSOcB0v_VnWgbczSjCujHDZpKpTKDPTF11kWdxwZ2No_jzlBY/s1600/I.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="315" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmQaFoUfzypb3Q4HgV8selyVQ7WHk-pU1TVKexYKzsriyfaZeMxt1GH7gPVTCqhZP10JmB4lWDBQjbpAf4ixnydLadSxNQSOcB0v_VnWgbczSjCujHDZpKpTKDPTF11kWdxwZ2No_jzlBY/s320/I.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
Cat Winters is a literary wizard. She combines Historical fiction with the supernatural and her books are so hard to put down. <u>In the Shadow of Blackbirds</u> takes place in Coronado, California during WWI and during the outbreak of the Spanish Influenza. As you can see by the cover spirit photography is the supernatural element in this story and while it makes an impact, the time period and characters really steal the spotlight.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
13. Since when did you read books. My passion for reading was sparked when I was 14 and a freshman in high school. It started with <u>To Kill a Mockingbird</u> By Harper Lee</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
14. Which Hogwarts house are you in?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDjhnIYSLiRmzKTW1EgibSzKQC7AN5lVsJW7DRFtZrdSRLo5cPbvONh1NZ7nOcIwynComfSNW-jT89idSRsJdSyvk_yLHUbuiqHuFBtlGlAnRUxU84n18Gp1OaZyd8I_RfwYkvZTXMzZKq/s1600/Slytherin.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="194" data-original-width="259" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDjhnIYSLiRmzKTW1EgibSzKQC7AN5lVsJW7DRFtZrdSRLo5cPbvONh1NZ7nOcIwynComfSNW-jT89idSRsJdSyvk_yLHUbuiqHuFBtlGlAnRUxU84n18Gp1OaZyd8I_RfwYkvZTXMzZKq/s1600/Slytherin.png" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
I am a proud Slytherin!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
15. Quality you look for in a book? Good Characters. If I don't like the characters, then the rest of the story wont appeal to me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
16. Favorite book quote: "Hold your Head high and keep those fists down"- Atticus Finch</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
18.Favorite book cover?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8fEOoK8lzqTBDkZZr5BJBmCw_pq4vClhF4Q7eUcLMQzmYWyoD4qvBMxoMFJjy4JC2wXdwUbNhj5EcduQ5OF6s9R_4q1CWJQyoEYWdxP46bnwsUzbNIFfUY9hXDXcVwOtNLYaf9-YWwPEa/s1600/The-Cure-For-Dreaming.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="475" data-original-width="314" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8fEOoK8lzqTBDkZZr5BJBmCw_pq4vClhF4Q7eUcLMQzmYWyoD4qvBMxoMFJjy4JC2wXdwUbNhj5EcduQ5OF6s9R_4q1CWJQyoEYWdxP46bnwsUzbNIFfUY9hXDXcVwOtNLYaf9-YWwPEa/s320/The-Cure-For-Dreaming.jpg" width="211" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
Again with Cat Winters! I <b><i>LOVE </i></b>this book cover. Its not only beautiful but also spooky. This book changed my life in so many ways. I never knew much about the suffragettes of America and now I have such a profound respect for them.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
19. Action or Romance? Romance, Hands down! I love falling in love with a fictitious guys!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
20. Where do you go when a sad moment happens? I am a huge baby when it comes to emotional reads. I cry at the drop of a hat so usually I just sit and cry while I gather my thoughts.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
21. How long do you need to finish a book? I am such a slow reader, so at least 2 weeks. My schedule is so busy all the time that I really only get to read in bed before I go to sleep and usually it only takes me 30 minutes to an hour to nod off.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
22. How long is your mourning period? Honestly its pretty fast. I have seen on youtube and talked to people who need days or even weeks to get over the loss of a literary loved one. I have a good cry and then I move on..</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

24. Turn on in a character? I love strong, brave characters. I also look for a extreme amount of independence. I am such an independent person that when I read of even slightly co-dependent characters I begin to get annoyed.</div>

She was the little sister who followed her brother Drew and Travis around like a puppy. For Drew she was annoying, for Travis she meant friendship. Until Viola was 13 Travis was her fist love. On her birthday she hears Travis saying things about her to Drew that she never thought he would think let alone say out loud. She was a pity friend... After having her heart broken she begins to loathe Travis, distancing herself from him completely. Travis begins to change along with Viola. He becomes, in short, a man whore!! But when Viola has to spend her spring break with Drew and Travis will things begin to change? Will old friends fall in love?</p>
<p dir="ltr">Oh.my.gosh... I read this book in a few days because I couldn't put it down!!!! Kennedy Fox is a wonderful and fast-paced writer. Her writing style reminds me of Colleen Hoover mixed with Kresley Cole. Her humor is timed perfectly as well as her steamy moments! Also the cliffhanger at the end made my jaw drop. It was so perfect! Literally my favorite read of 2017 so far. Cannot wait to dive into part 2 of Travis and Viola's story! A five ⭐read<br>
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐</p>
<p dir="ltr">Get over to Amazon and purchase some of her books. You will not be sorry!!!</p>

It is another beautiful sunday and I just finished <u>Labyrinth Lost</u> by Zoraida Cordova! This is a spoiler free review!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Synopsis: "Alex is a Bruja, the most powerful witch in a generation...and she hates magic. At her Deathday celebration, Alex performs a spell to rid herself of her power. But it backfires. Her whole family vanishes into thin air leaving her alone with Nova, a Brujo boy she cant trust. A boy whose intentions are as dark and strange as the markings on his skin. The only way to get her family back is to travel with Nova to Los Lagos, a land in between, as dark as limbo and as strange as wonderland."</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Okay... As many of you know I am a crazy witch fanatic, so when I saw this was a whole new take on witches I had to read it! Let me start by say thing that this story was magnetic! The characters, I found to be so relatable, minus the Bruja thing :) Alex is just a normal girl still trying to figure herself out and find her place in the world. I absolutely loved her family and all their eccentricties. Each character was unique in their own way and really added depth to Alex as a girl, sister, daughter and friend.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The element of surprise was used so much in this story that I found myself shocked with every page. I had no idea where it was going to go and I found myself gasping every so often. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I only had one problem with this story and that was our villain The Devourer. I wont tell you who she is and why she does what she does (no spoilers remember) but I found her character to be quickly forgotten. I knew that she was our conflict and that she would pop up at the worst times for Alex but I found her too be a bit bland. When you hear the title The Devourer you think of a true villain but she was not as insidious as she sounded.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall this book was a 4.5 star read for me. If you are as into witches as I am, then you will really enjoy this book. The concept of these Mexican witches called Brujas is such a refreshing twist on what we have a preconceived idea of. </span></div>

Hey readers. So last week I received a message asking if I would like to get some bookish mail. Since I don't treat myself to subscription boxes nor buy myself many books anymore I was elated and said YES PLEASE! Little did I know how amazing this mail was going to be. If you look in the picture down below I received a gorgeous "Glangerie" bottle that lights up beautifully. Some instructions and some extra backstory literature and a copy of D.E Night's <b><i>The Crowns of Croswald. </i></b>I am beyond excited to dive into this book and leave a review, and did you look at the cover?!?! So gorgeous. Thank you so much to Meg for messaging me! You literally made my month!</p>

I wanted to share this picture I just took for my Instagram account. I have a newfound love for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and my collection/ retelling are becoming quite extensive! I have only read The Splintered series which I have to say I am disappointed with. Splintered by itself was amazing. It took wonderland and warped it in a way that hasn't been done before. Sadly Unhinged was, in my opinion, AWFUL!!!! The whole story lacked so much substance and I only got a few chapters into Ensnared before I became bored. I am unsure if I will end up finishing... I am looking forward to the Alice in Zombieland series by one of my favorite authors Gena Showalter! Have any of you read them? I also just recently picked up Queen of Hearts and would like to get its companion Blood of Wonderland!</p>
<p dir="ltr">Do any of you have any recommendations on retellings or reimaginings for me? I would love to give them a shot!</p>

Today is a special day because not only is it my husbands birthday but it is also the 20th Anniversary of the release of Harry Potter!!! I have to say that makes me feel old. -Favorite Class: Defesnse against the dark arts as well as Divination<br>
-Favorite House: Slytherin</p>
<p dir="ltr">Hope all of you enjoy some magic today! </p>

I have been a littler bookworm lately. most times I am so busy, finding time to read is hard but there were two books that I read fairly quick!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjW0mDBZGH7VJpx4XnzHeRKYUErvC-dg4tl8V-NIVu3GW7-Y1XNHUoGDQ98_-3GCzvDD3VIXvnWhUGOtoiGGrghF0EgbSHxcMqHB4WhgX61RtL6ladjWV3mjCf61IjDEEPq5DxV596aCrm/s1600/%257BC4E1B4D7-EBE7-4FCB-BDFE-A41FC6648EF5%257DImg100.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjW0mDBZGH7VJpx4XnzHeRKYUErvC-dg4tl8V-NIVu3GW7-Y1XNHUoGDQ98_-3GCzvDD3VIXvnWhUGOtoiGGrghF0EgbSHxcMqHB4WhgX61RtL6ladjWV3mjCf61IjDEEPq5DxV596aCrm/s320/%257BC4E1B4D7-EBE7-4FCB-BDFE-A41FC6648EF5%257DImg100.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<u>Yesternight</u> by Cat Winters is a story of mystery. A young woman named Alice is a child psychologist who travels from town to town administering tests for kids who may or may not have disabilities. When she meets a young girl named Janie who claims she is a 19 year old girl named Violet Sunday from Kansas who died tragically. It is with the help of Alice, Janie's Father Michael and the Sunday family to find out why and how Janie believes these things about her. This was one of the first books to ever creep me out. So much so, I had to not read it at night!! It was amazing. Cat Winters is such an amazing author. Her historical fiction mixed with the supernatural is spellbinding!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxemjazAU1nEj8i7j6pXUNH93GTKI2eigCufcinZhS6qrmXjdmvyIGfdFH9OgBmwwaoiMQ4mxoYNu701NiJubaH1SrfbCkd5cfG_yYbZIiE9ScexFLDtcuw3yG7Td-cI4igZd7WObTzhyl/s1600/anna.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxemjazAU1nEj8i7j6pXUNH93GTKI2eigCufcinZhS6qrmXjdmvyIGfdFH9OgBmwwaoiMQ4mxoYNu701NiJubaH1SrfbCkd5cfG_yYbZIiE9ScexFLDtcuw3yG7Td-cI4igZd7WObTzhyl/s320/anna.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<u>Anna Dressed in Blood</u> by Kendare Blake was a book that I started years ago and just decided to finish. It follows a guy named Thesius Cassio (Cas) Lowood. He hunts and kills ghosts and he is on a mission to track down a malevolent ghost named Anna who is murdering people who sneak into her house. Anna seems like the hardest ghost for Cas to kill but learning about her murder and being stalked by another evil spirit is what he has in store. This was a good book! My husband read it probably 5 or 6 years ago and he loved it. So far he hasn't lead me astray with a good book and he was right about this one. I cant wait to see what is in store for Cas in the second installment of this series!</div>

Tonight I'm laying in bed watching Gilmore Girls and I felt compelled to write about my reading story. As I watch Rory Gilmore live a thousand if not ten thousand different lives in every book that she reads, I find myself feeling inspired but also a little bit sad. Here's why...<br>
Growing up I can remember my mom always reading. I too wanted to be a reader. The movie Matilda came out when I was very young and after I watched it I wanted to be just like her. So I went in my room , gathered up all of my books and after the first page of each book I became bored and would toss it aside. All I wanted to do was be like my mom and Matilda and read. I can remember sitting in bed with my mama and a book and thinking to myself at 5 years old " I do not like reading. I don't like listening to stories I don't want to read books" at some point I finally told my mama that I didn't want to read anymore. Looking back I'm sure that it broke her heart since she herself is quite the reader.<br>
It wasn't until a program at my school was started called AR or accelerated reading where I was finally forced to have to read. You can imagine my sadness. But regardless of what I did and did not like I had to read books to pass the tests. The first book I can remember reading all the way through was Ramona Quimby Age 8 by Beverly Cleary. Surprisingly I didn't mind those stories and I ended up reading two or three more in her Ramona series. In seventh grade the movie A Walk to Remember came out. After I saw it I fell in love with the overall story and when I found out it was a book I begged my mama to get it for me. One day while staying home sick the power decided to go out. That meant I had absolutely nothing to do. So I grabbed my Discman (yes I'm dating myself), and my copy of A Walk to Remember and begin to read. I read the book in 7 hours. That was the last book I read until High School. When I was assigned to Mr. Klein's freshman English class I had no idea that my love of reading was about to begin. It Started With The Adventures of Ulysses then moved to Romeo and Juliet and I fell deeply and completely in love with To Kill a Mockingbird (my favorite book). I found myself not only loving the characters in the stories but loving the entire story as a whole. I wasn't bored with what I was reading anymore and all I wanted to do was read. <br>
My best friend since I was 5 years old has always been a reader. She and I were in 4th or 5th grade when the Harry Potter series debuted.  she like many other children our age became in love with the world that JK Rowling created. I remember watching her read the books and wanting so bad to get lost in them. By the end of my sophomore year, she had convinced me to give them a try. I am so happy I did!! <br>
" when you finish a good book, you feel like you lost a friend"- Rhonda Becker (my mama). The quote that I just posted is one that I have heard my mom say my entire life. Although I didn't fall in love with reading until I was much older I find that I appreciate it in a different way than a lot of other people. You can argue that as much as you want but in my heart I feel that because I didn't read until I was older I have a deeper sense of appreciation for what I'm reading. That's not to say there books that I read that I think you're a complete waste of time or books that I don't even finish because I don't like them but I think that I look at books a little bit differently because I didn't grow up with the magic of loving them as much as my peers did. There's something about reading that just makes you feel whole. Books take you to many different lands and meet many different people. They make you laugh uncontrollably or they can make you cry uncontrollably.<br>
Stephen King describes books as<br>
" uniquely portable Magic" and I tend to agree.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I hope all of you didn't get too bored with this post and I would love to hear your reading stories tell me them in the comments below!!!</p>
elsewherebookreviewshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118445633158329537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-730741160353639030.post-46144401173696589512017-04-28T11:26:00.001-07:002017-04-28T11:26:54.110-07:00How to start a bookstagram (and have fun)<p dir="ltr">Hi friends. I wanted to do this post because I have a Instagram account that is dedicated to reading and my love of books. Being in the bookstagram Community is really fun but it can become very frustrating as well. Well I have met some really cool people and seen some amazing pictures sometimes you feel uninspired or frustrated that the work you put into your picture isn't getting likes or you're not getting followers. So here are some tips to starting your own bookstagram account.</p>
<p dir="ltr">1. Make it one hundred percent you. For a long time when I had my first bookstagram account I wanted it to look like everybody else is most beautiful pictures that I saw. When in reality all I needed to do was put myself into the pictures and make them something that I would like to see.</p>
<p dir="ltr">2. Don't do it for the likes and the followers. When I had my first bookstagram account I was so frustrated because I felt like I put so much time and effort into my pictures and I had little to no followers when other accounts who had only been active for a month had over a thousand followers... so I quit . Believe me I understand what it feels like to take a picture that you're really proud of and not get any likes or not get new followers but in reality this is supposed to be fun so why worry about your likes and your followers am I right?</p>
<p dir="ltr">3. It's okay to take a break. Last summer I decided that I was finished with bookstagram and the entire community. I still followed many of the people that I enjoyed seeing pictures of but taking a break really made me inspired and refreshed to wanting to have a bookstagram again and start inspiring people with my pictures and my words. Taking a break is okay if you lose followers you lose followers that's just the nature of the situation.</p>
<p dir="ltr">4. Have fun. Having fun is the most important aspect of the bookstagram community. We are a group of people that enjoy reading and enjoy looking at pictures of books. In my opinion we're a rare breed. But when it stops being fun why are you still doing it? In order to have a successful account you need to make it fun if it isn't fun anymore you shouldn't be doing it.</p>
<p dir="ltr">5. Interact with people. This is important because this is how you get book recommendations or if you're having a bad day somebody compliments you on your picture. I can't tell you how excited I get when I see that I have comments on my pictures even if it's just a smiley face. It shows that people are looking at my pictures and enjoying what I did.</p>
<p dir="ltr">And finally...</p>
<p dir="ltr">6. Write what speaks to you. I tried to put more time into what I'm writing them into the picture that I take. I feel like it gives the viewers and followers a sense of who I really am and that I'm not just a girl who's taking pictures of books. I'm there too talk about books and share my love of books. I'm one hundred percent me in my post.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Bottom line is if you're thinking about starting a bookstagram account just remember that things don't happen overnight I started my first bookstagram two or three years ago and I only got up to 500 followers with my new account I'm only up to 800 and I'm fine with that. I just enjoy inspiring others with my pictures and my words.</p>

I wanted to do this post because if you're anything like me you have very little time to do anything for just yourself. For me that means setting aside time to read. All day long I sit and think about all the things I need to do throughout my day when all I really want to do is read. Wrapping myself up in a new book is my favorite thing in the entire world and I have quite the collection that has been neglected for so long. With my schedule being so busy I have had to creatively find new ways to read more so here's some tips that have worked for me and I hope that they will work for you as well.</p>
<p dir="ltr">1. Audiobooks!!! I cannot stress enough how much audiobooks have helped me. I listen to them when I drive to the grocery store when I have to go to an appointment or when I'm driving home to visit friends and family. Because of that I have listened to seven books just this year including The Mark of Athena and now the House of Hades as well as The Alchemist. Audio books are such a great way to kind of Disconnect from the busyness of everyday life and immerse yourself in a story even if you don't have your nose in an actual book.</p>
<p dir="ltr">2. Scheduling. My schedule is always packed. Although i don't work which I am very blessed to not have to do so that means I take care of house and home, my husband, a puppy, the finances, I set up appointments I do all the paperwork, I do it all. So where in a 24-hour period do I find time to read. Well I have to schedule in little blocks of time throughout my day. For instance I have been going to the gym quite often and when I do so I bring my book, in fact I finished a book today! I read the last 60 pages while I was on the treadmill and I'll tell you what... it was fantastic I was tired, I was sweaty but I felt so good knowing I had finished yet another book. On days that I don't go to the gym usually I will schedule my time after my puppy's down for the night and I'm curled up in bed.</p>
<p dir="ltr">3. Don't force it. This is more of a tip so that you don't get frustrated if you can't read during your day. Don't force yourself to read if you're not in the mood. I cannot stress this enough. If you try to force yourself to read when you're either not in the mood or have too much going on youre not going to not get wrapped up in the story and not process what you're reading or you're going to piss yourself off because you tried so hard to read and still can't do it so do not force it. <br>
... And finally</p>
<p dir="ltr">4. Set an amount of pages. This kind of goes hand-in-hand with the scheduling aspect. But if you're having a busy day and all you want to do is sit down for just a few minutes and read a book give yourself an allotted amount of pages. Tell yourself okay I can't do anything else until I read 15 pages of this book and make yourself read those 15 pages and be as present as possible. Immerse yourself in those 15 pages just so that when you finish your satisfied with what you read, how you took it in and are now ready to tackle the next part of your day and if you find you have more time give yourself another 15 pages. </p>
<p dir="ltr"> the bottom line is we as a society find ourselves going 10 miles a minute and it's completely unacceptable if we do anything less (am I right?!?!) But it's okay to put things aside that don't need to be done right away like the dishes or the laundry give yourself a little bit of time just for you. I can't tell you how many days I finally had a few moments for just me and I would sit with my book and think oh I still need to do the dishes and I put my book down and go do the dishes and then I would find a handful of other things that needed to be finished right then and there so that by the end of my day I would have a huge chunk of time to read. But that's not how it works because by the time I got into bed and had my book out ready to read I was so exhausted from doing so much throughout my day. So if you follow these four steps or any variation of them whether you add extra steps or subtract some steps these should help you find more time during your day to read.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I hope you guys got something out of this that might help you when you're in a reading slump when you feel uninspired or when you feel like you just don't have any time because believe me I understand but using these tips should not only help you find more time to read but inspire you to read more and more often!</p>

Now first off, with my busy schedule I have very little time to read (a post about that and some tips is coming soon!!) So lately I have been reading while I work out. I just get on the tredmill and powerwalk and I read and that is how I was able to get this book read and this review ready to be posted!<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Synopsis:</span> A Girl named September lives a quiet life with her Mother and Father until one night a Leopard called The Leopard of Little Breezes comes to take her on the adventure of a lifetime. During this adventure she takes a bath, meets a Wyvern names A through L or Ell as she calls him, begins turning into a tree, meets a Marquess named Mallow and visits a land where its only fall all the time!!! She has very little time in this place and has to confront Mallow before her time runs out.<br />
<br />
Here is my review on this whirlwind of a story. I have had this book for years now and every time I tried to read it I could not get past the first chapter. That's not because it is boring by any means but it was not my time to read it. The first page alone has enough excitement to hook any reader. About a week ago I had posted a picture via Instagram with the cover of the book and a friend commented that she had read all of the Fairyland books and how I would love them, so I finished the book I was currently reading and began <u>The Girl who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making</u> and I cannot tell you how much I loved it and how wonderful of a book it was. Upon reading the first pages I felt that I was in a familiar place. A place where I had visited once before, a long time ago and I couldn't quite put my finger on where that place was until I started the next few chapters and I realized that I was in a place closely related to the Classic Stories of <u>The Wizard of Oz, Alices Adventures in Wonderland</u> and <u>The Phantom Tollbooth.</u> This story was so similar to those 3 books that it was like revisiting those old and timeless tales. I cannot tell you how satisfying this story was and how put together the entire plot was. When I wrapped up today I found myself feeling a bit sad because I had seen this force of a girl called September travel to new lands, make new friends and find her way back home all in one piece. September felt like she was my friend through this book and she was the girl I wish I could have been at her age. <br />
<br />
I <b>HIGHLY</b> recommend this book to people young and old. You will not be disappointed and I am about to start book two as soon as I wrap this up! Give it a try, you wont regret it!!elsewherebookreviewshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00118445633158329537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-730741160353639030.post-55029928683979765342017-03-25T21:39:00.002-07:002017-03-25T21:45:46.925-07:00Ashes to Ashes Book Review<br />

Natalie is a normal teenage girl living in a gated community when an altercation between her brother and a strange boy named Zach, leads her to meet a pink haired Girl named Love. Love is a smooth talker who can convince Zach to not try and stab Ben, Natalie's brother and who can talk her way out of anything. She can also be a common link to a string of Suicides happening at Emerson High School and Natalie is bound and determined to get to the bottom of it. Meanwhile Natalie begins dating a boy named Evan, who in my opinion seems a bit too good to be true, but after tragedy strikes him close to home he too is on the hunt to get to Love or to get rid of Love. What we find out is that Love is hiding a big secret. One that contains magic and something that could change the lives of Natalie, Ben, Evan and herself. Its a race against time to find out why people are dying, and why November 1st is such a feared date. This story combines a dark mystery, with a bit of romance, some untimely deaths and magic.<br />
<br />
I absolutely loved this book!! I found it so easy to read and so quick. The characters were complex, but no much so that they were unrelatable. This was the first, I guess Mystery, I have read in a really long time and I found myself wanting to find more clues and figure out who was the real "bad guy". The plot twists were timed well and whenever they hit I was left with excitement to turn the page. <br />
<br />
I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars! The only issue I had with it was that the biggest plot twist left me a bit confused, I think it was because I was so focused on finishing it that I began to read too fast. It was a fantastic book, and I highly recommend it!<br />

<br />
Hey readers! I had a few chunk of time this evening and wanted to do a fun book tag! I came upon this awesome blog @dreamlandbookblog.wordpress.com and I had to do one of my own! So lets get into it!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Flagrate, Writing Charm: a book you found interesting but would like to rewrite?</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVLGiYa6HdMj1WqKyoNkPtaQElyGtwd0P4s482CHI4KecZA-YsIFXsDSuemFwYalijG445bcNwM3xQeIoln9jQh8DW_oSV9xGcwJZ6oa7QsjzHYGEqjB3_SJDqDFFXF62kuX60BFmKeA9H/s1600/harry+potter+book+7+cover+deathly+hallows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVLGiYa6HdMj1WqKyoNkPtaQElyGtwd0P4s482CHI4KecZA-YsIFXsDSuemFwYalijG445bcNwM3xQeIoln9jQh8DW_oSV9xGcwJZ6oa7QsjzHYGEqjB3_SJDqDFFXF62kuX60BFmKeA9H/s320/harry+potter+book+7+cover+deathly+hallows.jpg" width="211" /></a></div>
<div>
Funnily enough the first title I chose was a Harry Potter book. <u>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows</u> was very disappointing to me. While I love the story overall, I would rewrite it in a way that didn't seem so... "half-assed" for lack of a better word. To me it felt like this book was so rushed and the chapters that were filler chapters really read that way.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Alohomora, Unlocking Charm: First book in a series that got you hooked?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmrhPsgcSnCfEJJqmTNMUXx9jV3HcyHiHbaCdGRvgqKaBt3j_zrbti5LBLfVCE9v8j0b5Rh6Eqsr3DEOpFg9j6JPoZig17vwrByYAfIRHBlzh-gwpw8_8kIhk6EGx7egCPOWeJtnoiO86k/s1600/badbeginning.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmrhPsgcSnCfEJJqmTNMUXx9jV3HcyHiHbaCdGRvgqKaBt3j_zrbti5LBLfVCE9v8j0b5Rh6Eqsr3DEOpFg9j6JPoZig17vwrByYAfIRHBlzh-gwpw8_8kIhk6EGx7egCPOWeJtnoiO86k/s320/badbeginning.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
I adore <u>The Series of Unfortunate Events</u> by Lemony Snicket. I remember being a sophomore in high school, this was before I read Harry Potter, and there was a book fair in our library. The cover of this book intrigued me and a friend, so we bought them and were so enveloped in the sadness and quirkiness of the story. I am still plugging away at this series and I am currently on book 9!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Accio, Summoning Spell: Book that you wish you could have right now?</span></div>

<div>
Oh my gosh friends, I am beyond excited for this release. It comes out the day before my wedding anniversary! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Avada Kadavra, Killing Curse: A killer book?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
This was such a surprising read. It mixes magic, romance, lust and the devil all in one book. It was one that I took off my self with no expectations (I was in a reading slump) and after chapter 1 I could not put it down!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Confundo,Confusion Charm: Book you found confusing?</span></div>

<div>
I was greatly disappointed with this book and I kept finding myself having to go back and re-read chapters because I was so lost. Once I saw the movie it all began to make sense!</div>

Oh my gosh you guys (and gals) this book was amazing! I was so in love with the blend of history and fiction, of magic and heartache, of witches and of ghosts. Adriana Mather is truly a spectacular writer. </div>

I don't know how many of you have tried Ellen Hopkins, prose style books but she is a great writer. All of her books are about social issues and this one in particular was such a roller coaster of twists and turns and left my jaw on the floor for a majority of the book! *disclaimer* while her books are amazing they are not for the faint of heart, some of her themes include Abuse, drug addiction, and mental illness.</div>

<div>
Normally I would say <u>To Kill a Mockingbird</u> but for the sake of mixing it up I had to chose <u>The Cure for Dreaming</u>. This book deals with conversion therapy by hypnosis during the time of the American Suffragettes. It combines a very important piece of history, along with hypnosis and a strong willed women. I recommended it to my mama and she read it in a day and said it was so amazing!</div>

<div>
This book made it into my DNF pile. I am so in love with the story (and Logan Lerman's portrayal of Charlie) but the book was so hard to get through. Charlie is a very sheltered and quiet almost childlike teenager and when I was reading it I felt like I was listening to a 7 year old telling the story and not a 14 year old freshman.</div>

I just finished reading <i>Caraval </i>by Stephanie Garber and wanted to do a review, so lets get into it.</p>
<p dir="ltr">A Brief Synopsis: two sisters Scarlet and Donatella want to escape their abusive father and go to play the ultimate game Caraval. Caraval is led by a mysterious man named Legend. Each game is creative and unique and there is always only one winner. Scarlett and Donatella get their chance! After years of writing to Legend, their wildest dreams of playing the game comes true...or does it?</p>
<p dir="ltr">The book is broken up into the days spent on the Isle playing Caraval. Its made up of 5 day that include lust, riddles, clues, suspense and a love between sisters that can be unbroken. </p>
<p dir="ltr">My opinion... I really disliked this book! Maybe its because all I have heard is people raving about it and my expectations were not met? Maybe its not my kind of story, I don't know. I hated the characters, I found Scarlett to be so dramatic and over the top. I found Donatella to be selfish and annoying. I think that the concept of the story is one that has never been done and that it why I was so intrigued by it. By the halfway point I found myself, forcing myself to finish it. By the end I was so dissatisfied with the overall execution that the ending was nothing short of a disappointment.</p>
<p dir="ltr">*quick disclaimer* many of you will disagree with this review, I know that so be kind in my comments please!</p>
<p dir="ltr">The silver lining is that I did appreciate the immense love the sisters had for one another. I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers so I know that love of doing anything for your sibling. I found that to be very heartwarming and sweet and it made me miss my siblings.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Overall I give it 🌟🌟 two out of 5 stars.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Check back for more reviews</p>

Hope all of you are doing well today! I have been busy since 6:30 am. I had my tax appointment, on top of midterm prep and school work and in an hour I am heading over to my parents house for dinner! Then back on the road tomorrow. With that said tomorrow will be a later posting as I will be driving back up to my house!<br />

Day 22: Book that makes you cry?<br />

<div>
I cry at a lot of books but I can remember sobbing at <u>A Walk to Remember </u>by Nicholas Sparks. I went and saw the movie before I read the book. After seeing the movie I decided to rent the book from my school library. I didn't read it. Then one day I "was sick" and stayed home from school. I think karma kicked in because the power was out all day that day, so I put fresh batteries into my discman (yes I said discman) and decided to read. Once I got a few chapters into the book I found myself wanting to see what happened next. Mind you I still was not a big reader at this time. within 7 hours I finished the whole book and was a weeping mess. I had never read a book that made my heart hurt until that day. Now, every once in awhile I will pick up this book and revisit all the emotions that go with it, and I still cry every time!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We only have 8 days left. Almost finished, don't quit on me now!</div>

We are 3 weeks in now!!!! So lets get into it!<br>
Day 21: first novel you remember reading. For me that is Ramona and her Father by Beverly Cleary. It was the shortest AR book I could find and every night for 1 hour I read the book in hopes that I would finish fast and test it with a good grade. Oh the life of a former book hater right!!!</p>
